Programme for accompanying persons

The fee covers travel (usually by a private bus) and a tourist guide. It does not cover admission fees and lunches (on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday).

Monday (August 24)

Whole day trip to the Moravian karst, the largest cave system in the Central Europe. We will visit Punkva cave combined with a boat trip on Punkva river, then take a cable cabin to the upper view of the Macocha abyss, then have lunch. Then we will visit a museum of traditional handcrafts in a nearby village. On the way, we will stop to see a cathedral of St. Josef in Křtiny. Total admission fees are approx. €20.


Tuesday (August 25)

We will spend the whole day in Brno. We will go around the city on foot and using the city transport. In the morning we will walk up the hill to visit the Spilberg Castle. It offers a nice view over the city and an opportunity to learn about the history of the castle while visiting casemates (the prison). We will lunch in a restaurant. Then we will sightsee the Cathedral of St. Peter and Paul, visit a Capuchin monastery and vault, and the Old Townhall with a tower. Total admission fees are approx. €10.


Wednesday (August 26)

Mid-congress excursion with other congress participants (mid-congress excursion).

Thursday (August 27)

Whole day trip to Třebíč and Telč, two towns listed as UNESCO World Heritage sites. In Třebíč we will sightsee the town centre with beautiful renaissance architecture. There we will visit the Basilica of St. Procopius, the Jewish quarter and cemetry, a Benedictine monastery, and a church of St. Martin. Then we will travel to the town of Telč to tour through the downtown, surrounded by renaissance and baroque townhouses. There we will also visit the gothic castle, and the park. Total admission fees are approx. €10.


Friday (August 28)

Free day. We suggest that you explore the city of Brno on your own.
